Controlling my Money

By J.P. Dahdah, Founder & CEO of Vantage

Love is in the air in February.  Valentine’s Day marketing will flood our lives and remind us to reflect upon the people that matter most in our lives.  We are encouraged to purchase gifts and/or plan a special occasion to communicate in some fashion that we love them.  Even though a bouquet of flowers, romantic dinner and a box of chocolates are nice, they are often just temporary gestures.

This month, I encourage you to explore other things in your life that you love.  Perhaps it is a hobby or a passion you enjoy outside of your career.  For me, it is the control money provides.

I love being the person controlling my money.

I do not love it from a perspective of greed and gluttony, but rather for the joyous lifestyle it can help produce if earned, saved, invested and managed with excellence.  I have been helping clients build wealth since I was 21 years old.  It was then I made the connection on how investment control and increased investment choices create the ultimate combination for financial success.  One of the most significant observations I have made is the wealthier my clients got, the more control they desired in their investment strategies.

It makes sense, right?  The more successful you are at making money, the more value you place in being in the driver’s seat.  Having control allows you to increase the chances of obtaining the desired outcome in a situation that involves risk and uncertain challenges.  When you are in control of your money, you can hedge investment risk more effectively by protecting your assets.  This is why I am so passionate about self-directed retirement plans.  As a self-proclaimed “investment control freak”, I crave investment vehicles that allow me to leverage my investment knowledge to the maximum, while keeping the tax man’s hands out of my pockets.

This belief places a tremendous responsibility on me to stay informed and continue educating myself, but if I do not care enough about my money to assume that responsibility, how can I expect others to? A Vantage Self-Directed IRA is the most personal and powerful investment tool available to Americans because it enables the account holder to direct their hard-earned savings exactly where they want, with very limited restrictions.  Embrace the financial control offered by a Self-Directed IRA and take charge of your financial future!  I am certain you will love it as much as I do!

Happy Investing!
